The International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators and Other International Organizations
The PCAOB is a member of the International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators (IFIAR). IFIAR provides a forum for independent audit regulators to share among each other their knowledge and experiences, with a focus on inspections of auditors and audit firms. Created in 2006, IFIAR holds one plenary meeting each year, in addition to hosting periodic meetings of its six working groups. IFIAR established a secretariat office in Tokyo in 2017.
PCAOB staff lead the IFIAR Inspection Findings Survey Task Force, which prepares the annual inspection findings survey.
The IFIAR membership consists of 54 independent audit regulators from around the world. Observers include: Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, European Commission, Financial Stability Board, International Association of Insurance Supervisors, International Organization of Securities Commissions, Public Interest Oversight Board, and World Bank. More information about IFIAR can be found on the IFIAR website.
