PCAOB Announces Standing Advisory Group Meeting May 24-25
Topics include data and technology, emerging issues, and economic analysis
The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board today announced that it will hold a meeting of its Standing Advisory Group in Washington on Wednesday, May 24 to Thursday, May 25, 2017.
"We look forward to a robust and thoughtful discussion with SAG members on timely topics," said Martin F. Baumann, PCAOB Chief Auditor and Director of Professional Standards.
On Wednesday, the SAG will discuss the use of data and technology and emerging issues in auditing. The next day will include a discussion on research conducted by former fellows at the PCAOB Center for Economic Analysis.
The meeting will open on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. with updates on recent PCAOB developments and the projects on the research and standard-setting agendas.
This will be followed by presentations on the use of data and technology in auditing, and on emerging issues that may affect audits, auditors, or the work of the PCAOB.
After lunch, the group will split into breakout sessions to discuss the topics further. These sessions will be closed to the public, and summaries of the discussions will be presented at the SAG meeting the next day.
Thursday morning will include a discussion on recent research conducted by former fellows of the PCAOB Center for Economic Analysis. Later, the group will discuss points from the Wednesday breakout sessions.
The meeting is expected to conclude around 4 p.m. A more detailed agenda for the meeting will be posted soon.
The meeting will be held at the Washington Plaza Hotel, 10 Thomas Circle NW, Washington, DC. The meeting is open to the public and will be streamed live on the PCAOB website. A recording will be available in the video archive shortly after the meeting.
The Standing Advisory Group advises the PCAOB on the development of auditing and related professional practice standards. The SAG includes investors, auditors, public company executives, and others.
