Megan Zietsman Sworn in as PCAOB Board Member
The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) announced that Megan Zietsman was sworn in today as a Board member. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission conducted the swearing-in ceremony virtually.
“We are pleased to welcome Megan to the Board, just as we are grateful for all of her contributions as our Chief Auditor over the past two years,” said PCAOB Chairman William D. Duhnke III. “As Megan takes on her new role as Board member, we look forward to leveraging her deep expertise to advance our strategic plan and vision."
From February 2019 until her swearing-in as a Board member, Ms. Zietsman was the PCAOB’s Chief Auditor and Director of Professional Standards. Prior to joining the PCAOB in 2019, she was a Partner in Deloitte & Touche LLP's professional practice network in the U.S., where she was responsible for leading activities relating to audit standard-setting, the global implementation of new and revised auditing standards and rules, and talent-related processes and initiatives. Board Member Zietsman served on the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board from 2014 to 2019, including as the Deputy Chair from 2017 to 2019. She also served on the American Institute of CPAs’ Auditing Standards Board from 2007 to 2011. Board Member Zietsman is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Accountant (South Africa). She received a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting with honors from Rhodes University in South Africa.
“I join the Board today with an already strong appreciation for the PCAOB’s mission to protect investors,” said Board Member Zietsman. “The role we play and our efforts to promote high quality auditing might be more important now than ever before as we live through the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s an honor and a privilege to have this opportunity, and I am looking forward to working with my fellow Board members to advance the important work of implementing the PCAOB’s strategic plan.”
