Matthew Sherwood
Economic Research Fellow
Matthew Sherwood is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He obtained a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Kansas in 2016. Before pursuing his doctorate, he spent ten years at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Sherwood spent the first three years of his time at PwC in the core assurance practice, before transitioning into the data risk and management group. Matt also spent two years on international secondment, working in PwC Ireland's Dublin office, and eighteen months as a Research Fellow with the PwC's Center for Advanced Research, in San Jose, CA. Matt was an Economic Research Fellow in the Office of Economic and Risk Analysis, at the PCAOB between August 2020 and August 2021. His work focused on the Audit Quality Indicators initiative, the availability of audit technology in registered CPA firms, and audit teams’ use of offshore shared services centers.
